Fish ponds

When installing fishponds people usually have a number of questions. After all, you are about to install a new ecosystem on your property. This is a much harder task than furnishing an indoor area, but with a little research it will seem much less formidable.

You may be wondering how many fish you can put in fish ponds. A good rule to go follow is to have approximately 1 inch of fish for every cubic foot of surface area. As for food, you may be wondering how often to feed your Koi. You can actually let them survive by eating algae from the bottom of the pond. However, some people enjoy feeding the fish for entertainment.

And what to do with the fish ponds during winter? Simply keep a hole in the ice and allow the water to keep moving. The fish can be left in the ponds as long as there is a way for them to get oxygen and the gases released by plants can leave the pond.
